Have my DTX 700 module on my MIDI patchbay and when it receives any channel (for example, my REV2 synth is sending notes out MIDI CH3), it starts playing a GM piano sound.

I went into Utility > MIDI > Rcv10ch and that's on, so it should only be receiving on Channel 10 I would think.

Any ideas? I don't want to have to dick around with filtering etc., this thing should be able to ignore any channel except what it's set to.

Various ways - here's some:
In the Song menu, set the MIDI volume of channel #3 to 0.
Or in Kit mode, set an unused input to channel #3 and the volume to 0
Or send a SysEx to the module to set channel #3's volume to 0
... but you need to ensure the thing sending doesn't send a control message to override your settings.

I use one or other of these when I have a sequencer MIDI'ed to both a DTX and a sampler. I need to send a note to trigger the sampler from the sequencer, but not make a sound on the DTX.

...

By-the-way:
Utility > MIDI > Rcv10ch is to enable or disable channel #10 only. It has no effect on the other channels.

....

ps. of interest, why have you got the DTX receiving MIDI anyway?

....

pps. Here's the SysEx strings to disable channels:

F0 43 10 4C 70 05 00 00 F7 Channel 1
F0 43 10 4C 70 05 00 01 F7 Channel 2

wow, super fast response! Thank you!

I'm using Cubase to record my MIDI performance whilst playing my DTX 720 kit, but would like to use the DTX as a sound source after editing.

    Cool - that's the way I record.

ps. You can also use the Accompaniment volume control in the song menu and drag it to 0. That should mute everything that's not drummy. On some DTX modules, that was a physical slider which made life easy.
